Telephony Evaluation

Private voice over evaluations are designed to candidly assess your ability to either supplement your income or work full-time as a voice over actor. Terrific for anyone with a unique voice, previous training, or specific goals. Also consider the Investigate Voice Over Class.

Skype/Telephone Consultation

Telephony Consultation

When you have questions or want guidance, it helps to speak to someone with experience in that topic. That's why we offer private consultations. You'll speak one-to-one with an industry expert and have a terrific opportunity to take advantage of their knowledge and expertise.

Telephony Training

While we offer a variety of important classes here at Edge Studio, we also provide private voice over training. Each approach has important benefits. One-to-one voice over coaching -- with an experienced professional coach -- is sometimes the best way to hone your delivery and fine tune your performance.

Telephony Demo Recording

Your voiceover demo is quite possibly the single most useful tool you have in getting your voice heard and allowing potential clients to have a full understanding of what you offer as a unique and professional voice talent. Because of this, it is crucial that your demo be of pristine quality and represent you in the best possible light.

7 general types of telephony exist, including:

  • Information On Hold

    • “While you’re on hold, we’d like to tell you about exciting offers. Did you know that we offer a…”
  • IVR (Interactive Voice Response)

    • “Please say 'Service,' 'Help,' or 'Sales,' or speak the last four digits of your social security number.”
    • “Hmmm, I’m sorry but I’m still not understanding you - please repeat the…”
  • Menu-Prompt

    • “Press one for sales, two for…”
  • Auto Attendant (Voice Mail)

    • “The person at extension 123 is not available. To leave a voice message…”
  • Informational Systems

    • “Your deposit of three-hundred seventy nine dollars cleared on…”
    • “Today’s menu is…”
    • “The weather in zip code 10023 will be…”

Two types of recordings sometimes fall under the telephony category, even though the recordings are not played back on telephones. They include:

  • Instructional Systems

    • “Pull flap B until it touches piece D. Then…”
  • GPS

    • “Go 200-feet, then turn left onto Maple Drive…”

These two types of recordings fall under “telephony” because (A) the scripts are formatted similarly to telephony scripts, with numerous individual words and phrases, (B) each of those words and phrases are edited into separate files, (C) each of those files will be sequenced together to form more complex statements, and (D) the voice actors who narrate these often become “the voice” of the recording and continually record future updates.
